Georgetown Co-Hosts Catholic Religious Organizations Studying Slavery (CROSS) Conference
The Center for the Study of Slavery and Its Legacies co-hosted the biennial conference of Catholic Religious Organizations Studying Slavery, which brought together archivists, academics, clergy, community members, and descendants to explore archives, stories, and projects related to uncovering the histories of enslaved people found in Catholic archival records. The conference featured a keynote address by Rachel Swarns and a celebration of the pioneering research of GU272 descendant Patricia Bayonne-Johnson.
